A kopitiam in Malaysia has banned customers from bringing in Mixue drinks—and the internet is divided.
Right across the street sits a Mixue outlet offering RM3 milk teas, a deal too good to resist. But as more patrons sip Mixue at kopitiam tables, staff are left cleaning up the mess, and owners are watching their drink sales drop.
Supporters say it’s fair—“You wouldn’t bring outside food into a cinema.” Others argue customers should have freedom of choice.
Mixue’s rise is no surprise. With cheap prices, cozy air-conditioned stores, and freebies like RM1 ice cream, it’s redefining budget-friendly beverages in Malaysia—and giving traditional cafés real competition.
