Samurai Cat: A New Japanese Bakery and Cafe Arrives in Downtown St. Pete

Downtown St. Petersburg welcomes a fresh culinary addition with the debut of Samurai Cat, a vibrant Japanese bakery and cafe concept now open for business. Occupying a 1,315-square-foot space at 407 Central Avenue, the establishment breathes new life into the former location of Beans & Barlour cafe and dessert shop, which bid farewell in November 2023. Adorned with captivating Japanese wall art and decor featuring an emblematic feline warrior, Samurai Cat offers a unique dining experience in the heart of the city.

This latest venture is brought to fruition by Majestic Restaurant Group, renowned for its diverse portfolio including Zukku-San in Wesley Chapel, Ato in Lakeland and Wesley Chapel, and Zukku Sushi in Tampa’s Armature Works. Additionally, the group is set to unveil two upcoming concepts, Ling’s Dumplings and Han Hand Roll Bar, at Armature Works in the near future.

At Samurai Cat, patrons can indulge in a tantalizing array of culinary delights. The menu showcases popular Japanese creations, including the viral Japanese fruit sando—a crema chantilly-stuffed sandwich featuring strawberries and kiwi nestled between slices of milk bread. Equally enticing is the tamago sando, an egg salad served on milk bread. For those craving something savory, Samurai Cat offers avocado toasts with various toppings, cold sesame udon salads, and smoked salmon onigiri, delectable rice balls filled with salmon and cream cheese.

Quench your thirst with a selection of sweet beverages, including brown sugar milk tea, strawberry matcha lattes, matcha lemonade, and traditional iced tea starting at $6.95. Samurai Cat proudly serves Kahwa Coffee to satisfy caffeine cravings.

Save room for dessert as Samurai Cat tempts with bubble waffles in flavors like ube and matcha, Portuguese egg tarts, matcha rice krispies, and an array of unique ice cream flavors such as Thai tea almond cookie and lemongrass ginger pear.

Currently in the midst of its soft opening, Samurai Cat welcomes guests daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Stay updated on the latest offerings and events by following Samurai Cat on Facebook and Instagram.

Samurai Cat promises to be a culinary haven for aficionados of Japanese cuisine and enthusiasts of delightful treats, further enriching the vibrant culinary landscape of downtown St. Pete.
