Twrl Milk Tea Brings Eco-Friendly Boba to Everyday Pantries

Bay Area-based Twrl Milk Tea is redefining how Americans enjoy boba by offering ready-to-drink canned milk teas and instant boba kits for home use.

Founded in 2021 by Olivia Chen and Pauline Ang, the Asian- and women-owned brand quickly expanded from online sales to shelves in Whole Foods and Sprouts.

Twrl focuses on sustainability, using plant-based pea milk, low-sugar formulas, and recyclable aluminum cans. Inspired by their Taiwanese roots, the founders aim to make boba more accessible while honoring its cultural origins.

Twrl recently gained national attention after engaging with a viral Simu Liu clip critiquing non-Asian-owned boba brands. Chen responded with a TikTok introducing Twrl’s mission, earning media coverage from NBC, ABC, and Food & Wine.

Now, Twrl isn’t just a drink—it’s a platform for culture, sustainability, and inclusion.
